Glossier’s launch at Mecca last month was a massive deal for us Aussie and NZ beauty lovers. And to celebrate, I posted a One Brand Recommendations on Glossier to show y’all some of my faves from the brand. However, I did fuck up with that post. Because I forgot to previously review one very important product from Glossier. That of course being the Lash Slick Mascara. And as the reigning Queen of Mascara, I couldn’t not let this go unreviewed. So, I got straight on it. And I have some thoughts. Let’s get into it.
GLOSSIER LASH SLICK MASCARA – $33.00 – mecca.com.au
I’ll begin as I always do with the packaging. The Lash Slick Mascara is housed in a soft pink (very millennial core) tube. There is black detail on the tube and the Glossier G embossed on the top. If you’ve ever seen the packaging of the Glossier Ultralips, think that but longer. Theming wise, it’s very much in line with the aesthetic of Glossier. Simple, yet eye catching. The Lash Slick Mascara is cruelty free, and contains 8.5g of product,
The wand of the Lash Slick Mascara is one that I’ve seen many times before. It’s a molded brush head with short, slightly spiky, evenly sized and spaced bristles. The wand is a good length and tapers towards the tip. Making it easy to reach those inner corner lashes. It also has some flex to it, which I do appreciate.
The Lash Slick Mascara is now the fourth tubing mascara review that I’ve done in recent memory. But I do have some things to say about this formula. Firstly, while it appears light in the swatch, the pigment is very deep and rich in colour. When they say black, they mean black. I also detect a glossy finish to this mascara with the swatch. And it’s a very lightweight feeling swatch. The formula contains Biotin for lash conditioning and a unique Japanese Fiber Technology to help create extra length. Interestingly, it’s a much drier formula than I’m used to having with a tubing mascara. Which made me initially concerned for it’s layering abilities.
As far as application goes, this was a very easy mascara to apply and to layer. Despite the formula being on the drier side, it builds very easily and gives a good amount of length and lift. I also noted the separation of my lashes. They appeared very wispy and fluttery. On the flipside, if you’re a volume girly, this mascara won’t be for you. While this mascara excelled in making my lashes look longer, it didn’t do much for making them look more voluminous.
Getting into the wear test. And yeah, this wears like basically every other tubing mascara that I’ve tried recently. The most noteworthy thing I can say about it is that it didn’t flake nearly as badly as some of the tubing mascaras that I’ve tried. So, points in it’s favour. One thing I did notice was that the initial lift that I got did fall after a few hours of wear. And on my right side in particular, my lashes looked dead straight. So, unless you’re already blessed with lifted, curled lashes, you might want to break out a curler for this one.
You’ll notice that this review took much longer to come out than I would normally spend on a mascara. And ultimately it’s because I didn’t quite know where I landed on my thoughts. In the end, I have to say that the Glossier Lash Slick Mascara is fine. And at this stage in my blogging life, I’ve tried too many mascara’s to recommend ones that are just fine. It’s not bad, but I won’t be buying it again anytime soon. Have you tried the Glossier Lash Slick Mascara? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
