The jumpers are put away, the air-con is blaring, and the temperatures are soaring. That’s right, folks. Winter is officially over! Which means it’s time to look back at some of my favourite beauty discoveries that I made over the last few months. As always, these posts are hard to narrow down. But these five are ones that I’ve bought up time and time again on both the blog and my Insta. Let’s get into it!
RHODE GLAZING MILK – $30.00USD
I feel like any mention of Rhode should come with an ‘I’M SO SORRY’ attached to it. Because this is a brand that is notoriously difficult to get in Australia. But when I say that the Glazing Milk is worth every penny I spent to get it over here? I mean it with my whole chest. The Glazing Milk has one of the most unique formulas I’ve come across. The texture is too liquidy to be a moisturiser, but much thicker than any toner I’ve previously tried. And when I apply it to my face, my skin drinks it up instantly. It’s loaded with Ceramides, Glycerin, and many other ingredients that my skin loves. When I do eventually place another Rhode order, this will be on it.
OAKCHA X PAUL REACTSS MISS GIRL VIRAL VANILLA – $85.00USD*
NOTES – Top: Coconut Milk, Caramel. Middle: Tonka Bean, Honey. Base: White Musk, Vanilla, Marshmallow, Amber.
*Em’s Note* This one was very kindly sent to me in PR. I also have a code with Oakcha. Use code EMILY1542 for 10% off your order.
I said this when I reviewed Viral Vanilla back in July and I’ll say it again. This is the new gold standard when it comes to Vanilla Gourmands. This has easily been my most complimented fragrance of the year. I smell utterly delicious when I wear it. I actively have to force myself to wear other perfumes right now because I want to smell like this forever. If you’re a vanilla fan or a gourmand fan, you need this in your life.
HUDA BEAUTY BLUSH FILTER – $37.00
Yeah, you’re not at all surprised to see these here. Especially when you consider just how much I’ve talked them up this month. They really are the easiest liquid blushes to apply. They blend like a dream. And they wear all day long.
LOUNGE FACE BROW BUILDER – $36.00
I’m finally back in my ‘giving a shit about my brows’ era. Which means I’ve tried quite a few new brow products as of late. And out of all of them, the Brow Builder is the one that has impressed me the most by far. The formula is so interesting. It has the hold of a gel, but the pigment of a pomade/cream. And it makes it so easy to fill in my brows and have them still look natural. I also really love the shade of the wand. It’s small, yet tapered. Making it easy to apply product where it’s needed. Loungeface deserves all the hype they can get and I cannot wait to see what they do next.
RHODE PEPTIDE LIP TREATMENT – $18.00USD
And we’ll end the beauty favourites with more Rhode. Again, I am so sorry. But this lip treatment is every bit as good as the internet says it is. It’s been very windy up north. And my lips have been getting very sore and cracked. Especially along the top lip line. This is the only lip balm that has helped with that. I apply this throughout the day and right before bedtime. My lips are soft, smooth and hydrated. I want all of them now.
So, that’s a wrap on the beauty faves. Which means it’s time for the bonus faves. And you’re getting a bumper edition of these this time. What can I say? It was a good three months!
NEXBA BETTER SODA’S – $8.75 for a 4 pack
I mentioned the Sodaly Probiotic Softdrinks in my previous favourites. And I still really enjoy them. But I was put onto these by the amazing Morgan over at Morgan’s Skin Journal. Y’all? These are everything. It’s a smaller range of flavours (I believe there are only four). But every single one of them slap. My favourite is the Raspberry Kiwi. They are the perfect hit of sugary sweetness without the sugar. I cannot recommend these enough.
HISMILE ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH – $79.00
In a lesser season, I would have added this to my beauty favourites. But it was a pretty chock a block few months. And I still wanted to mention this here. So, random faves you go. In any case, I love this toothbrush. I love that it’s pink. I love how small the head is. I love that it has a timer so I’m actually brushing my teeth for the right amount of time. I especially love that it signals when I need to brush a different quadrant of my teeth. Best of all, I love that I paid less than $40 for it (these go on half off sale at Woolies and Coles all the time). If you’ve been looking to up your dental game, this is it!
MEGAN (Megan Thee Stallion)
You might be surprised to see any album other than The Tortured Poets Department here. The truth is, despite starting it quite a few times since it came out, I’ve actually never finished listening to it from start to finish. I kinda get bored of it halfway through. On the other hand, I’ve listened to Megan Thee Stallion’s new album on repeat since it came out in late June. This is her third studio album, and there is not a single skip on it. My standouts, outside of Hiss and Boa, are Otaku Hot Girl, Mamushi, Where The Girls At, and Rattle. This will probably rank high in my Spotify faves.
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (AMC+, ABC iView)
2024 has seen the long awaited return of quite a few of my favourite shows. And many of them have sadly been letdowns for one reason or another. Interview With The Vampire’s second season is not within that company. This is easily my favourite show of 2024. Continuing on from the high dramatics of season one, season two sees Louis retelling his and Claudia’s journey traveling across Europe in search of other vampire covens. Eventually, they would settle in Paris, where they will meet The Vampire Armand and his coven, The Théâtre des Vampires. All the while, Louis is haunted by the memory of Lestat after the events of season one. I won’t go into more detail because I want as many people as possible to watch this show. It’s so good, it’s so camp, it’s just everything. And if you live in Australia, then both season one and two are available to watch for free on ABC iView. You have no excuse.
LISA FRANKENSTEIN (Available to buy/rent on Amazon)
A coming of RAGE love story about a teenager and her crush, who happens to be a corpse. After a set of horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a journey to find love, happiness – and a few missing body parts. I know that the premise sounds a bit weird. But I like weird. And Lisa Frankenstein is by far my favourite movie of the year. It’s funny, a little creepy, and so wholesome. I can see this being a Halloween staple for teen and teen at heart girls.
And I’m done! Boy, I had a lot to say. I hope that you all had an amazing winter. And that Spring is kind to you all.
Cheers and love
Emily xo
