Well, I guess it’s time for my yearly disappointment and heartbreak. That’s right, We are chatting about the makeup and beauty faves that have been cruelly snatched away from me. Some of which I didn’t even know were gone until the other day! Let’s get into the mourning.
MECCA MAX MINI MIX EYESHADOW PALETTE in SUNSET SQUAD
I found out this specific palette was discontinued when I did my Mecca Max One Brand Recommendations last month. I even wanted to highlight this palette specifically because of how unique the colour story was. The shimmery pink and purple shades were particular favourites of mine. And the orange is stunning blown out all over the eyelid. I know that there are quite a few palettes in this line, but this colour story felt special.
SOL DE JANERIO CARIOCA CRUSH PERFUME MIST
Now, technically speaking, this falls more into the ‘Limited Edition’ side of the discontinued coin. And Sol De Janerio does have a habit of bringing back limited edition fragrances to the permanent line (Both Tan Lines and After Hours were recently added to the Cheirosa range). But seeing as this wasn’t the favourite of the Summer 2024 collection, I’m not holding out much hope. And it would be a genuine shame if this didn’t come back. Because it’s a different scent for Sol De Janerio’s line. The crispness of the pear with the violets and the musk? It’s heavenly.
MAC AMPLIFIED LIPSTICK in FAST PLAY
MAC launched two new lipstick formula’s this year. Well, technically relaunched. They updated both their Matte and Satin lipstick formulations. Which meant that I got to play the fun game of ‘Which MAC lipsticks got pulled from the permanent line’. And there were quite a few that I noticed. Mocha was the big one that I saw people be upset over. But my personal heartbreak was me discovering that Fast Play was now gone. This shade will always be a favourite as one of my best friends bought it for me as a surprise gift. And I beat this lippie to hell! I’m honestly shocked there is much left. Guess I’ll have to use this shade more sparingly.
HUDA BEAUTY OVERACHIEVER CONCEALER
Do I love the Faux Filter Concealer? Yes. Will I be forever salty that Huda discontinued the Overachiever Concealer? Also yes. This concealer was crazy high coverage. I could easy wear this all over the face. But the thing that made it truly special was the cooling metal tip applicator. It was instantly refreshing when I was applying it under the eyes.
DIOR BACKSTAGE FACE & BODY PRESSED POWDER
I remember hearing the rumours about a year ago that Dior had pulled this powder from the shelves. When I heard that I thought ‘surely not, the Backstage Powder didn’t even come out that long ago’. I was a bit delulu, as it were. Because now, in October 2024, this powder is officially gone from Sephora Australia, US, and Singapore and Selfridges in the UK. It is still listed on the Dior Beauty Australian website. However, all of the shades have been out of stock for a while now. I wouldn’t be shocked if it came back out reformulated (the same thing happened with the foundation). But I do have my concerns. As this was an amazing, finely milled blurring powder for the undereyes. With enough additional coverage to boost any concealer I was wearing.
Well, that’s enough stewing in my anger and sadness. But I always like these venting sessions. Hopefully your favourite products stay available!
Cheers and love
Emily xo
