One of the main drawbacks of living in the outback is that it usually takes a few weeks for new drugstore launches to come our way. The lack of a Priceline or Chemist Warehouse being the main reason. But there are those rare occasions where my local pharmacy comes through. And Pharmacy First really came through when I spotted the brand new Revlon Full Time Mascara on their shelves before I had even seen it on Revlon’s socials.
In a surprise to no one, it quickly came home with me and I added it to my last stash. I’ve spent the last few weeks playing with it. Let’s get into the review!
REVLON COLORSTAY FULL TIME MASCARA – $24.95 – priceline.com.au
Starting with the packaging, the Full Time Mascara is housed in a sleek, chrome red tube. There is white detail on the tube. It’s simple packaging, but the bright red really catches the eye. The Full Time Mascara contains 7.5ml of product.
The wand for the Full Time Mascara reminds me quite a bit of the Make Waves Mascara from Tower 28. It’s a molded brush in a curved, ballet foot style with short bristles going all around the brush. Comparing the brushes side by side, the Revlon seems a little wider and the bristles are slightly shorter. The biggest difference though is the Full Time wand has less of a defined curve. But this is the kind of wand that is great for lift and separation.
Getting into the formula now, and it’s pretty much standard for what I expect from Revlon. The pigment is rich, it combs through without getting clumpy, and it feels lightweight. The big ingredient that they are spruiking is Sunflower Microfibers. Which are meant to assist with building up volume on the lash.
But now we have to get to the confusing part. Which is that I’m not sure if this mascara is tubing or not. It says it has 24hr wear without smudging, flaking or crunching. Those are basically the hallmarks of a tubing mascara. But it doesn’t remove like a tubing mascara. It comes off smudgy when I use an oil based remover. It’s also worth noting that Revlon has just launched a tubing mascara recently. So, maybe this just has really good wear.
Speaking of wear, I was immediately impressed the first time I applied the Full Time Mascara. The volume was instant from just one coat. They looked full without looking bulky, if that makes sense. The other thing I noticed was how much lift I got. My lashes looked so much longer and separated. This wand was also good for picking up my smaller lashes that would otherwise be left behind.
So, I’ve done a lot of yapping about this mascara. But how does she wear? Well, on the one hand, they were dead right about this formula being an all day wear. I had no flaking, no smudging, nothing on the eyelids. I was pretty stoked at that. On the other hand, well, you can easily tell with the after photos just how much that lift fell. And I can tell you IRL, that droop started within an hour of me applying this. The picture really doesn’t do it justice. The lashes on my left side were bordering on straight. I’ve never tried a mascara where the lift has fallen that quickly, it’s so strange.
All in all, I think I’m a little torn with this one. If you’re someone who is naturally blessed with lifted lashes, or you’re someone who has the patience to use an eyelash curler, I can see this working really well for you. But as someone who does judge a mascara on how well it keeps my lashes lifted, this was a letdown for me. And I think I have to give it a thumbs down, for me personally. Please let me know if you have tried the Revlon Full Time Mascara and if it works out for you. I would definitely love the feedback.
Cheers and love
