Before I begin, I just want to say how good it feels to write that again…
Yes, I am back with my first makeup review of 2025! And the product I’m reviewing is one I was supposed to review three months ago! That’s right, I’m finally getting around to reviewing the Rose Inc Lash Lift Serum Mascara. This review has been a long time coming. So, let’s not waste anymore time and get right into it.

ROSE INC ULTRA BLACK LASH LIFT SERUM MASCARA – $46.00 – mecca.com.au

Beginning as we always do with the packaging, the Lash Lift Mascara is housed in a long, rectangular style tube. The tube arches at the handle. The packaging is a light beige/bone colour and the brand name is embossed on the lower end of the tube. Aesthetic wise, this is very in line with Rose Inc as a brand. Very minimal, very clean, that kind of thing. The arch is also prominent in Rose Inc’s design. The Lash Lift Mascara is vegan, cruelty free, and contains 10.7ml of product. There is also a mini available in the range. That one retails for $25, contains 4.6ml of product, and is a more standard cylindrical style packaging.

The wand for the Lash Lift Mascara is one that I’m seeing more and more frequently. They describe is as a molded dual bristle brush. With a curved side of short bristles to coat the lashes with product and a side with longer bristles to create the desired length. There is one unique feature that I picked up on with this though. I found this wand to have some flexibility to it. Making it, in theory, easy to reach my inner lashes. But we’ll talk about that in a minute.

Getting into the actual formula. And I have to say, I’m not sure that I like it. It’s definitely wax based. It contains Carnauba, Sunflower, and Candelilla waxes. Which are all very common in vegan formulations. But it’s also a very wet formula that, on me anyway, takes a while to dry down. Which is a problem when it came time for me to apply. It has a tendency to look thick and clumpy on the lashes if you don’t scrape off some of the bulk first. And you bet your butt it’s the kind of formula that can ding onto your eyelid if you’re not careful. Which Lord knows I’m not.
There are other things in this mascara that are supposed to be beneficial to your lashes. The formula is boosted with squalane to help give it a glossy finish. There is Argan Oil and Goji Berry Extract to help condition the lashes. And there are peptides to help thicken and strengthen the lashes over continuous use.

First impressions of the Lash Lift Mascara left a lot to be desired. You see, this is a mascara that has the word Lift in the name. I have to ask, where? Because I went in with my usual two coats and my lashes stayed straighter than a ruler. I couldn’t for the life of me get any real curl or lift from this mascara. It also wasn’t the best for length. The one area I will give it points for is volume. But that’s mostly because my lashes were clumping together as I was brushing it on. And the more I brushed to try and even things out, the worse it looked.

Which brings me to the wear test. And if there is one nice thing I can say about this mascara, it’s that it’s consistent. My lashes stayed in the exact same position over the wear time. The formula, however, did like to move around. This is an occasion where the smudging is worse IRL rather than the picture. But it was all over my under eye and eye lid. You can also see some light flaking on the lid. Ultimately, this mascara was a mess.
Well, I have to say that wasn’t worth the wait. The Rose Inc Lash Lift Serum Mascara gets a thumbs down from me and I can’t recommend it. Even if you’re someone wit naturally curled lashes. Or heck, someone who actively curls their lashes before use. This formula is just too finnicky and makes the lashes look too heavy. And there continue to be so many amazing affordable mascara options out there that are just better. Have you tried the Rose Inc Lash Lift Serum Mascara? Let me know in the comments.
Cheers and love
