I love my Eau De Parfums as much as the next fragrance girly. But there are some occasions where I want to just douse myself in a body mist. And Sol De Janeiro is the brand I turn to for that. They are the kings of the body spray world. And they have a huge range of fragrances to choose from. So, seeing as I own pretty much all of the permanent ones in the range now, I figured it would be fun to do a little ranking of them. Which ones I rate, and which one I hate! Let’s get into it.

SOL DE JANEIRO CARIOCA CRUSH
NOTES: Pear, Litchi, Pink Violet, Praline, Musk, White Cedar Extract
This one is getting it’s own special section as I can’t include it in my official ranking. Carioca Crush was part of last year’s Summer collection. And at the time of writing, is no longer available. I do hope that it eventually makes a comeback because it would be a unique addition to the line. It’s not as in you face as some of the fragrances in the Sol De Janeiro range. The Pear and Violet bring a lovely softness to the mix. The Litchi provides the sweetness. And the Praline and Musk round it out to make a scent that is delicate, but distinct. Again, I do hope that SDJ brings this back in as a part of the core range. Consider this my offical petition.
And now to the rankings proper.

8th – SOL DE JANEIRO CHEIROSA 87
NOTES: Coconut Milk, Sand, Tuberose, Ylang Ylang, Vanilla, Amber
In last place, we have Cheirosa 87. If you know me at all, you know that coconut is my fragrance kryptonite. It always hits my nose wrong. And in some circumstances, can trigger headaches if it’s strong enough. 87 doesn’t go that far, but it is still an unpleasant scent experience for me. Truth be told, the only reason why I bought this was because I actually ended up liking Maldives In A Bottle from Kayali and this has similar notes. Where I found the Kayali to be very well balanced, 87 reminds me too much of overly floral suntan oil. I know that people do love this one. But it’s not for me.

7th – SOL DE JANEIRO CHEIROSA 48
NOTES: Guava, Coconut Water, Orchid, Lemon, Orris, Musk, Vanilla
Even I have to admit my reasons for not liking this one is personal. It’s the Guava, plain and simple. It’s a note that, turns out, makes me feel a little queasy. And combined with the Coconut Water, it drowns out all of the other notes. Making it smell very one dimensional to me.

6th – SOL DE JANEIRO CHEIROSA 76
NOTES: Black Currant, Jasmine, Freesia, Ambergris
This is one I keep going backwards and forward on. It’s a little more floral heavy than I would normally go for. And the Black Currant gives it more of a night time vibe, if that makes sense. If I were to go out clubbing, this is the perfume I would wear. But I’m 35 and a cat lady. So, maybe I’m just too normy for this one.

5th – SOL DE JANEIRO CHEIROSA 71
NOTES: Caramel, Macadamia, Vanilla, White Chocolate, Sea Salt, Coconut Blossom
A little peek behind the curtain for you all. When I was initially doing my rankings, I had 71 much, much higher than 5th place. This was top 2 at one point. Because this smells exactly like a warm, caramelly, Macadamia and White Choc Chip cookie. Truly delectable. Even the Coconut Blossom note doesn’t bother me because it’s so well balanced with everything else. I could not stop wearing this one for a minute there. But the last few times I’ve worn it, I’ve picked up on a yeasty scent somewhere that I find legitimately oft-putting. Like, it sneaks up on you and then I can’t unsmell it. And I’m not talking about a cute, sweet bread smell. I mean fully bloomed yeast. I’m genuinely curious to know whether this has happened to anyone else.

4th – SOL DE JANEIRO CHEROSA 62
NOTES: Pistachio, Almond, Heliotrope, Jasmine, Caramel, Vanilla, Salt, Sandalwood
Now we are getting into the ones I legitimately like/love. And seeing as it was my intro to this range, 62 will always have a special place in my heart. I’m not normally a fan of Almond in perfumes. But mixed with the Pistachio and Vanilla, it just works for me.

3rd – SOL DE JANEIRO CHEIROSA 68
NOTES: Ptiahaya, Litchi, Jasmine, Sea Notes, Hibiscus, Vanilla, Musk
I can keep this one short and sweet. This was my number one for the longest time (sorry Hannah). Call me basic, I love Baccarat Rouge 540. And this is as close a dupe I’ve found. It’s sweet, fruity, a little floral. I adore it. Don’t really need to say much else.

2nd – SOL DE JANEIRO CHEIROSA 40
NOTES: Plum, Black Amber, Cassis, Orchid, Jasmine, Vanilla, Woodsy Notes, Musk
Now, this one surprised me. I knew from the notes that I would like it. But I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. If you don’t like how intensely fruity 68 can be, this is so light and ethereal. It smells like it’s dancing on the skin. And it’s perfect for any occasion. 40 is my newest obsession. I cannot put it down at the moment But it still didn’t make it to first place.

1st – SOL DE JANEIRO CHEIROSA 59
NOTES: Vanilla Orchid, Sugar, Violet, Sandalwood
59 did. I was tempted to copy and paste what I wrote in my Best Fragrances of 2024 post. But I think I’ll just Cliff’s Note’s it here. I desire, at all times, to smell sugary and sweet. I am also a sucker for Vanilla and Sandalwood as a fragrance combo. This is everything I could possibly want in a vanilla body spray. Sol De Janeiro did the dang thing.
Wow! That was actually much more difficult than I thought it was going to be. I know that there are rumblings that Sol De Janeiro will be adding to the line soon (Coco Cabana is apparently making a comeback!). But these are my thoughts on the Sol De Janeiro Body Mists. Disagree with my thoughts? Let me know your faves in the comment section
Cheers and love
