One of my all time favourite posts that I’ve done on here was my ‘If I Lost All My Makeup’ post that I did a little over a year ago (you can check that out here). It was a fun thought experiment. And it is also a great time capsule of my tastes during that time. So, I wanted to do that agai. But this time, I wanted to try it with my fragrances. I have something of an expansive collection. In fact, I’ve been doing a Scent Of The Day series over on my Instagram. And it has got me thinking, what perfumes would I repurchase if my whole collection were to disappear overnight.
So, I did exactly that. These are my opinions, as of right now. I did make a few ground rules. I instantly disqualified any that I got in PR (I want to stick to ones that I have actively purchased). I also ruled out any Limited Edition or Discontinued fragrances (which will explain the absence of my beloved Oakcha X Paul Reacts Miss Girl). Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into it!
My first pick will be a surprise to no one. So, sing along if you know the words! KAYALI YUM PISTACHIO GELATO 33 – $179.00 for 50ml (NOTES – Top: Pistachio, Bergamot, Ice Cream, Hazelnut, Rum, Cardamon. Middle: Lily Of The Valley, Peony, Pear, Jasmine, Geranium, White Peach, Raspberry. Base: Whipped Cream, Marshmallow, Cotton Candy, Turkish Delight, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Cedar, Cacao.) It’s been over a year since I first got it and it is still my favourite perfume by a large mile. I mean, look at the dent that I’ve put in it? I wear it really as often as I can get away with. And I already have a bottle sitting in my cart over on hudabeauty.com for the split second I run out. If I don’t have this in my collection, either it has been discontinued or I’m dead (which might happen if it’s ever discontinued).
Staying in the gourmand realm, my next pick would be the delicious EILISH BY BILLIE EILISH – $76.00 for 30ml (NOTES – Top: Sugar, Red Berries, Mandarin. Middle: Vanilla, Cacao, Spice, Rose. Base: Tonka Bean, Amber, Musk, Woodsy). I am a sweet tooth gourmand girly at heart. And this one hits just right. Its easily my most complimented fragrance. Everyone asks me about it when I do wear it. And Dennis is very fond of me wearing this too. So, gotta keep him happy!
In my heart of hearts, I know that I have to have a Marc Jacobs perfume in my collection. You will never convince me that Marc Jacobs is passe. And out of all of the ones that I have (and I have a few now), it has to be MARC JACOBS PERFECT – $170.00 for 50ml (NOTES – Top: Rhubarb, Narcissus. Middle: Almond Milk. Base: Cashmeran, Cedar). This is one of my favourite springtime scents. It’s fruity and floral, without being over the top. Extremely easy to wear for any occasion.
My fourth pick is probably one of the most gatekept fragrances that I own. But if I want to emulate that ‘Clean Girl’ aesthetic, OUAI DEAN STREET – $108.00 for 50ml (NOTES – Apricot, Musk, Lime Blossom, Amber, Citruses, Magnolia, Rose) has been my go to for years! This scent is so crisp and fresh. I mostly wear in during the summer. And you wouldn’t believe the projection this has. I can still smell it on me after 8-10 hours of wear.
And now we are up to pick number five. Let me tell you, this was freaking hard. I had at least 6 different fragrances in contention for this last spot. But again, if I’m being straight up honest with myself, I have to acknowledge that ELLIS BROOKLYN SUPER AMBER – $183.00 for 50ml (NOTES: Amber, Musk, Virginia Cedar, Vanilla Orchid) is probably the fragrance that I’ve worn the most this year. While I’m not generally a skin scent kinda gal, this one is so light and elegant. With a subtle warmth to it. I genuinely don’t own anything like it.
And those are my picks! Let me know what your must own fragrances are in the comments.
Cheers and love
Emily xo
