Y’all, it’s the day we have waited over a decade for. At long last, Glossier is now available in Australian and New Zealand Mecca stores! I haven’t been this excited for a brand launch in literal years. And I truly cannot believe the day has finally come.
Now, because of this auspicious occasion, I figured it would be appropriate to do a One Brand Recommendations. As I have tried my fair share of Glossier goodies (they finally implemented international shipping late last year). My list won’t be as expansive as some of the others. But there are a few big ticket items that I know you will all be interested in knowing more about. So, let’s get into the Gloss!
*Em’s Note* All pricing is current at the time of writing on mecca.com.au. I have also added the pricing from the Glossier site as a comparison.
GLOSSIER STRETCH FLUID FOUNDATION – $56.00 ($62.00 on glossier.com) (review here)
Might as well begin with the product that hooked me in. The Stretch Foundation was a Best in Beauty winner for me last year. I have the full review linked above. But Cliff Notes version. Medium buildable coverage with a natural finish. So insanely comfortable on the skin. Lasted on rainy days and 40 degree days. This foundation is the real deal.
GLOSSIER STRETCH BALM CONCEALER – $37.00 ($40.00 on glossier.com)
My new go to concealer for no makeup day looks. This stuff blends like a dream. But once it’s on, it does a great job at staying put. It’s the only balm textured concealer that I like under my eyes. If you think that the Nars Soft Matte Concealer is on the dry side for you, definitely consider this one.
GLOSSIER CLOUD PAINT BLUSH – $37.00 ($40.00 on glossier.com)
So cute and so easy to use. I can easily blend these out with my fingers to get maximum colour payoff. But I also love these more diffused with a brush. The wear on these is pretty good. I do find that I have to set them. But otherwise, they last all day on the cheeks. The range of colours is pretty expansive as well. *Em’s Note* Wisp is a full size (10ml), Rise and Puff are mini’s (4ml)
GLOSSIER BOY BROW – $37.00 ($40.00 on glossier.com)
In my top 3 favourite brow tints of all time. If I need my brows to be filled in and presentable, this is what I’m reaching for. It also adds a solid amount of hold to the brows without that crunchy feeling.
GLOSSIER YOU EDP – $53.00 for 8ml ($59.00 on glossier.com)
NOTES: Iris, Pink Pepper, Ambroxan, Ambrette
*Em’s Note* I have the original rollerball version. This appears to be discontinued. It now comes with a spritzer for the mini size.
If I were to place a bet as to what I thought would sell out first from tomorrow’s launch, I would easily place money on Glossier You. This has to be the most in demand product in Glossier’s line. And also the most controversial. As this was a widely beloved fragrance before the formula got changed a few years back. And many say that it isn’t as good anymore. Now, speaking only for myself, I do like You. It’s a lighter, cleaner scent than I would normally go for. But it’s a good pick for when I don’t know what fragrance I’m in the mood for. It’s also a good work pick because the scent throw isn’t the strongest. So it won’t offend anyone. I would still strongly recommend smelling it in person, though. As scent can be very personal.
GLOSSIER ULTRALIP – $37.00 ($40.00 on glossier.com)
Spectacular, give me 14 of them! I’m being so for real when I say this is Glossier’s best product. The Ultralip’s are so comfortable, so glossy, and they give that juicy effect to the lips without any obnoxious plumping ingredients. I have the shade Pony (swatched above). And I wear this so often. I can’t wait to buy more.
GLOSSIER BALM DOT COM – $27.00 ($30.00 on glossier.com)
And now for something completely different. The Balm Dot Com was the very first Glossier product I ever tried (I won it in a giveaway back in 2020). And while I had convinced myself that it was the world’s greatest lip balm at the time, now that it’s 2024, I can finally admit that this is kinda mid. Heck, when Mecca did the prelaunch a few weeks back for levels 3 & 4, this was one of the products available and I immediately went ‘nah’. It’s a fine lip balm. But, in my opinion, it’s not better than Lanolips. It’s not better than the Summer Fridays Lip Butter’s. And it’s definitely not better than the Rhode Lip Treatments (yeah, prepare for that write up come the end of August). Consider this my anti-recommendation.
GLOSSIER LASH SLICK MASCARA – $33.00 ($37.00 on glossier.com)
And finally, something I have yet to even try! I am so sorry. I know that a bunch of you were hoping that I would have reviewed this for the launch. But I simply ran out of time. Rest assured, this will be included in my August/September stash. I will have my review up soon.
And those are my Glossier picks! If you listen very carefully, you can hear my wallet trembling. Stay tuned for my post launch haul. And as always, let me know what you’re picking up from the Glossier launch in the comments.
Cheers and love
Emily xo
